
Laure Assaf is an anthropologist and an Assistant Professor at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD). Her research interests focus on youth, urbanity, migration, and temporality in the contemporary United Arab Emirates and the broader Gulf region.
She was trained in anthropology at Paris Nanterre University and at École Normale Supérieure (Ulm); and in Arabic at the National Institute for Oriental Languages and Civilizations (INALCO). Before joining NYUAD, she taught anthropology at Paris Nanterre University and at École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS). She is also an Associate Researcher at the French Research Centre of the Arabian Peninsula (CEFREPA) in Kuwait.
